「マラウイでの支援にて“芽”が出ました！」
マラウイでは、これまでのA-GOALプロジェクトの緊急支援とは異なる中長期的かつ持続可能な展開を目指して、活動主体メンバーに「野菜の種」を渡し、農業の専門家や現地の農家からの指導のもと野菜を栽培する活動に取り組んできました。

マラウイのチェンべ村では７月末から農地の開墾を行い、８月上旬から栽培を開始しましたが、この度、現地から“芽”が出たということで報告がありました。現地では畑を耕すことから始まり、毎日の水やり、雑草の管理などが丁寧に行われており、マラウイの現地メンバーの努力が実った瞬間でした。
これらの野菜が生育し収穫された際には、約100世帯の家族に配布される予定です。その際には、野菜の種（葉物の野菜、トマト、モリンガなど）も合わせて配布され、各家庭にて新しい野菜が育てられることになります。
野菜の栽培や種の分配・普及活動に加え、サッカークラブメンバーによる「新型コロナウイルス感染症予防のための教育活動」が既に始動している他、ツアーガイド組合による「オンランツアーの導入」の準備も進んでおり、A-GOALプロジェクトの進捗・成果も共有される予定です。

A brief update: The support in Malawi has sprouted!
In Malawi, A-GOAL project has adopted a medium- to long-term and sustainable development approach, which is a bit different from other emergency support provided in other countries so far. A-GOAL project handed over the “vegetable seeds” (leafy vegetables, tomatoes, moringa, etc.) to the members in Chembe village, Malawi, and they are engaged in activities to grow vegetables with advice from agricultural experts and local farmers.

In Chembe village, a communal garden was prepared from the end of July by using a piece of fallow land; and cultivation started from the beginning of August. We are pleased to announce that “buds” have started coming out from the soil! It was the moment when the efforts of the local members of Malawi came to fruition – after going through cultivation of the communal garden, watering them every day, and managing weeds carefully.
When these vegetables are grown and harvested, they will be distributed to around 100 households. Also, vegetable seeds will be distributed so that they can grow vegetables at their homesteads.
In addition to vegetable growing, seed distribution and agricultural extension activities, football club members have already started “educational activities to prevent COVID-19 infections”; and tour guide association has been working on preparation for “online tours” and the progress and outcomes of A-GOAL project will be shared as part of online tours.

[Crowdfunding in progress]
A-GOAL project is currently running a new crowdfunding campaign for our partner countries in Africa.
20 days left until the end of this crowdfunding campaign. So far, we have received support of 249,500 yen from 37 people. With additional 750,500 yen, we will reach the target!!
